5x5 Go "solved"

Go is normally played on a 19x19 board and the idea is to encircle
territory using your pieces (two players, one with white and one with
black "stones").  Completely encircled pieces are captured.  It's a hard
game to play by computer (harder than chess) because the search space is
much larger (and imho heuristics are more difficult to find, as there are
no "dominant" pieces and a range of different scales need to be considered
- early play "sketches out" territory for later capture).

All that has been done here is to exhaustively search the game space for a
very restricted version (5x5 board).  However, it's an ominous sign that
brute force searching is becoming more important than elegant heuristics
even here (as happened long ago with chess).
