Greek Phone Tapping via Ericsson Backdoor

From: "andrew cooke" <andrew@...>

Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2006 08:24:08 -0400 (CLT)

A while back there was a scandal about an illegal wiretap on Greek
politician's mobile phones. I thought I had posted about it here, but I
can't find anything now (I remember looking around for information and
finding little). A BBC report from the time is here -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4674216.stm

It turns out that the tapping was done via part of the system intended for
"lawful interception" -
http://homes.esat.kuleuven.be/~gdanezis/intercept.html - and there's a
rumour - http://betabug.ch/blogs/ch-athens/312 - that access to the system
is possible via a simple backdoor. In which case all Ericsson phone
systems could be vulnerable.
