CMYKTiff

CMYKTiff is an extension to the NetPbm package for producing tiff format files with CMYK colours (ie for printing). It is a CoSource project.

Although aimed at the NetPbm package, input, conversion and output routines are separate. It is the ideal base for similar programs with other file formats and algorithms - if you would like your modifications included here, please email me a (diff) patch.

The program that does the work is called pnmtotiffcmyk (yes, it's long, but it makes sense when you see the program names in NetPbm).

The following information is available:

• The proposal - why, how and when.
• Progress - tracks development and notes issues that need resolution.
• Tests, including transformed images.
• Instructions for installing the extended NetPbm (also applies to the full download).
• Compatability - read this if you are not using Un*x with ANSI C.

Downloads

Version 1.01 is a beta release. Relative to 1.00, it includes small changes to NetPbm to clean up a few linker and compiler warnings, and some small make fixes. Please email me with comments, problems and fixes. Thanks!

Please note - you only need to download one of the packages below (all files, or extended NetPbm, or pnmtotiffcmyk source).

• Do you need to download from here? I am submitting pnmtotiffcmyk.c to Jeff Poskanzer, who produced PbmPlus (which led to NetPbm) and who is preparing a new release. With luck, he will include this, so you may be better looking for a new version of PbmPlus on his site (the version of NetPbm dated 1 March 1994 does not include this code).
• Download all the files (these pages and an extended NetPbm - based on NetPbm-1mar94 - which includes pnmtotiffcmyk and a bugfixed pnmtotiff) as tarball (Un*x) or zipped archive. Some browsers may try and display the tarball rather than saving it to disk - if so, use "save link as a file", or similar, from your browser menus or right mouse button (sorry - I am trying to get the server here re-configured).
• Download an extended NetPbm (based on NetPbm-1mar94, includes pnmtotiffcmyk and a bugfixed pnmtotiff) as tarball (Un*x) or zipped archive. There is also the diff that includes changes to NetPbm to build pnmtotiffcmyk during make and a bugfix for pnmtotiff. Finally, the licence is also available.
