Python libraries error on OpenSuse 12

From: andrew cooke <andrew@...>

If you're seeing:

  Could not find platform dependent libraries <exec_prefix>
  Consider setting $PYTHONHOME to <prefix>[:<exec_prefix>]
  Python 2.6.7 (r267:88850, Nov 30 2011, 23:23:38)
  [GCC 4.6.2] on linux3
  Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
  Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/etc/pythonstart", line 7, in <module>
      import readline
  ImportError: No module named readline
  >>>

after installing Python 2.6 on Opensuse 12.1 (64 bit) and then doing an
altinstall, the problem seems to be that the libraries were installed in
/usr/local/lib64 instead of /usr/local/lib.

You can fix this with:

  sudo ln -s /usr/local/lib64/python2.6/lib-dynload \
    /usr/local/lib/python2.6/lib-dynload

I just wanted to say thanks for posting this.
Over two days I tried installing python 2.7.3 with pythonbrew and then when
I install distribute Python package I get error related to not finding
python libs on proper location.
